Founder & Director

Sachin Khetani

Sachin Khetani is a professional musician, Tabla player, DJ, educator and music industry professional with extensive experience across performance, education and live events.

Sachin began learning Tabla from the age of 4, and is a disciple of Pandit Sharda Sahai, one of the great exponents of the Banaras gharana. This traditional training, passed directly from guru to disciple, forms the foundation of his playing and of the academy's teaching philosophy.

With over 15 years of experience teaching Tabla, Sachin has developed musicians of all ages — from first strokes at age 3 to advanced performers — and founded Taal Music Academy to create an environment where students could receive excellent technical training while also gaining the confidence and experience required to become accomplished performers.

A graduate in Commercial Music, Sachin has built a diverse career spanning music education, broadcasting, festival programming and international live performance.

His professional experience has included working as an Assistant Producer at the BBC, programming major South Asian cultural events, and performing at prestigious venues and events across the UK and internationally.

As a musician and DJ, Sachin has performed across the UK, India, Morocco, USA and Kenya, and has worked alongside established artists including Raghav, H Dhami and Tasha Tah.

Our Story

Taal Music Academy

Based in London, UK, the academy welcomes students from age 3 upwards — from complete beginner through to advanced level.

Our approach goes beyond simply preparing students for examinations. We develop musicians. Students learn technique, repertoire, theory, improvisation, musicianship and performance skills while being encouraged to develop their own musical identity.

Traditional Indian classical training sits alongside contemporary music, fusion and live performance, giving students an education that respects the heritage of the instrument while embracing where music is heading next.

Tradition provides the foundation. Creativity takes it forward.
